Linda Brubaker – Early American Decorative Art
Throughout our nations’ history, Americans have used the decorative arts to provide a rich and varied compliment to daily life. Linda’s presentation illustrated the beauty and diversity of many of the decorative methods used, as well as showed historical context within an overview of the techniques and materials used. We also learned about how the decorative techniques used by our ancestors are being preserved today. Included was a fascinating story of how an antique sleigh manufactured by the ancestor of a local family was accidentally found in a barn and painstakingly restored to its original condition with all of its ornate decoration.
